Operating Department Practitioners are essential to safe, high-quality surgical care. In this role, learning never stops, and education plays a central part in maintaining excellence. TheĀ Educator Apprenticeship for Health and Social CareĀ helps you build the skills and confidence to support learning within theatre teams, improve supervision, and inspire others to deliver outstanding patient care.

Fully funded through theĀ apprenticeship levy, the programme is open to ODPs across the NHS, social care, and independent sectors who want to grow as educators and leaders.

Develop your teaching expertise – in a real health and social care context

You will develop practical teaching, mentoring, and feedback skills tailored to the unique environment of perioperative care. Each session connects educational principles with real-world practice, helping you strengthen learning within your theatre or department. You will learn how to:
